Where are you geographically located?
Navardalen is located in northern Dalarna, around 30 kilometres north of Älvdalen, in the heart of the Swedish wilderness. Despite its secluded setting, it is still accessible from major cities. It is approximately 5 hours by car from Stockholm, around 355 km from Stockholm Arlanda Airport, and about 520 km from Gothenburg. The nearest train station is Mora Station, reached in about 3 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours from Stockholm Central, after which a car or transfer is needed for the final part of the journey.

Getting to Navardalen is part of the experience. As you travel north through Dalarna, the landscape gradually opens into forests, lakes, and quieter roads, and the final part of the journey becomes a natural transition into the stillness of the wilderness.
By Car

The easiest and most convenient way to reach Navardalen is by car.
There is limited mobile reception once you leave Älvdalen and travel the final 30 minutes to Navardalen. It is important to bring the directions with you, as your GPS may lose signal along the way.
From Älvdalen, follow National Road 70 north. At the junction, turn right towards Sveg, continue for about 15 minutes, and then turn left at Jöllen Bridge towards Navardalen (sign). From there, simply follow the signs. Parking is available on site, followed by a short walk of around 300 metres to the lodge. There is limited mobile reception once you leave Älvdalen and travel the final 30 minutes to Navardalen. It is important to bring the directions with you, as your GPS may lose signal along the way.
By Train
If you are travelling by train, the nearest station is Mora Station. There are direct train connections from Stockholm Central to Mora, and the journey takes just under four hours. From Mora, the final part of the journey continues by car or a pre-arranged transfer, as Navardalen cannot be reached entirely by public transport.
Travelling by train is a comfortable option for guests coming from Stockholm or other parts of Sweden, especially if you prefer not to drive the full distance. Once you arrive in Mora, we recommend arranging the final stretch in advance to make the journey as smooth as possible.
By plane
For international guests, the most convenient option is usually to fly into Stockholm Arlanda Airport. Arlanda is well connected, with long-distance trains departing directly from Arlanda Central Station in SkyCity, making it easy to continue your journey onwards by rail.
From Arlanda, you have two main options. You can rent a car and drive directly to Navardalen, or you can continue by train to Mora and then travel the final part by car or transfer.

Travelling to Mora Station from Europe by public transport is entirely possible and offers one of the most sustainable ways to arrive. For guests coming from across the continent, the most climate friendly option is to travel by train, allowing the journey itself to become a meaningful part of the experience.
From many parts of Europe, the easiest route is to travel by rail via Copenhagen, Hamburg or Berlin to Stockholm. From Stockholm Central Station, there are direct trains to Mora, making the final part of the journey both simple and comfortable. Rather than rushing by air, travelling overland offers a slower and more thoughtful transition from city life into the forests and landscapes of Dalarna.
Choosing the train instead of flying significantly reduces the climate impact of the journey. It also creates space to arrive in a different state of mind. The further north you travel, the more the scenery begins to shift. Cities give way to open land, deeper forests and a quieter rhythm. For many guests, this is where the experience truly begins.
A simple option is to travel by train to Copenhagen, Hamburg or Berlin, continue to Stockholm with operators such as Snälltåget, and then take the direct SJ train from Stockholm to Mora. Snälltåget runs direct services between Copenhagen and Stockholm, and from May 4, 2026, also direct trains between Hamburg and Stockholm via Copenhagen. SJ then connects Stockholm with Mora within Sweden.
For guests travelling from Belgium, the Netherlands or Germany, European Sleeper can be a useful first step, with overnight trains such as Brussels to Berlin or Prague, from where the journey can continue north toward Copenhagen, Stockholm and Mora.
For a lower cost alternative, guests can also combine long distance buses and trains. FlixBus operates extensive routes across Europe and to Sweden, including connections to cities such as Gothenburg and Stockholm, where travellers can continue onward by train to Mora.
