 WILDERNESS WISDOM:
Survival & reconnection retreat

About the experience:

Immerse yourself in the tranquility of the Nordic wilderness while learning about survival and self-mastery in this 4 day retreat. David, or perhaps more known as Nordic Nomad, will share some of his knowledge on how to survive in the wild, as well as how to reconnect with nature, with yourself and with your ancestors. Skills such as how to make a fire using a fire steel, how to filter water and how to build a shelter; valuable knowledge for anyone who spends - or wants to spend - time in the wild.

You will also learn how to master your own mind - essential in a survival situation, as well as in every day life. Dive into discomfort to strengthen and discipline yourself. Ice baths, sauna and meditation is on the agenda, along with a lot of time to rest, reflect and reconnect - to become more in tune with the natural world.

  • Arrive by own car after 15, (or get picked up in Mora at 14). You will then be shown to your cabin or tipi. This day will pass in a slow manner. Breathe in the fresh air and enjoy the silence and harmony that nature provides. Take a swim in the lake, and a pleasant sauna. Explore the surrounding forest, sit in stillness or get acquainted with the group.

  • 19:00 - dinner, after which you will be free to explore again

DAY 1
Reconnection day 1

  • Breakfast is served at 8:30 (it is recommended to eat light here).

  • 9:00 - we go for a morning swim in the lake to start the day with focus and energy. If it gets us cold, we go through some movements that can warm us up.

  • 10:30 - an introduction to meditation. By focusing on our breath, we observe our fluctuating minds and our surfacing emotions, and we get to practice on observing without reacting. This is a great tool for dealing with the world around us.

  • 13 - lunch is served, after which you are free to do whatever you like. Meditate more, walk around barefoot, or perhaps just rest and reflect.

  • 16 - ice bath and sauna. Discipline yourself and strengthen your mind by pushing your limits through discomfort. Getting used to discomfort will not only be helpful in a survival situation where you might face extreme temperatures, leaving your comfort zone will also prove to be valuable in your day to day life.

  • 19 - dinner is served around the fire where we will discuss together. Did this day brought upon you something? Did any negative emotions or thoughts resurface, and if so, what can you do to handle it? Spend the rest of the evening around the fire if you would like, diving deep in the conversations, or feel free to enjoy the tranquility of the forest.

DAY 3
Self-Cultivation day

  • Breakfast is served at 8:30.

  • At 9:00 we walk off into the woods where we will talk about the flora and fauna, how to behave in a meeting with large animals and how we can use different things that grow in the forest. We then arrive at the forest camp where a tipi awaits us. Here we will learn to safely construct a fireplace and how to build and start a fire, using a firesteel. We then make a structure for cooking, after which we start preparing food.

  • 13:00 - lunch around the campfire, after which we take some time to tune into the forest. Hear the song of birds, feel the wind against your skin. Walk barefoot in the moss, or just enjoy a relaxed conversation around the fire.

  • 15:00 - We gather again to learn how to signal for help, before heading back to the wilderness lodge.

  • 19:00 dinner around the fire, after which you may go for an evening swim and sauna, or whatever you like.

DAY 2
Survival day 1

  • Breakfast at 8:30 again, after which we learn how to store and filter water before heading out back out to the forest camp.

  • 10.30 - I will go through what to do if you get lost, and what you can do to be prepared for such a situation. What can we have with us and how do we remain calm?

  • 11:00 - I will demonstrate how to make a shelter.

  • 13:00 - Lunch around the campfire.

  • 14:00 - You build your own shelter in which you will spend the night. There is also the tipi available if you would prefer to sleep in there.

  • Making a shelter can take a long time, so we have the rest of the day open for it.

  • 19:00 dinner around the campfire, after which we are free to enjoy the forest for a last evening.
